Working at new Zealand

Hey finally find some time to blog... Haha ok I've been working in New Zealand since April.

When i reach to tauranga was working in mussel factory for the first week. Then i found a group of friends that able to travel with.

Then after that we got a job at Tepuke at kiwi factory to work as grader.

That time we stayed at a beach. A REAL working holiday hehe

Working in trevelyans is really a good experience, meeting a lot of wonderful people from so many different countries, corners of the earth. All came here for one purpose... Working holiday!

The season ended on early July.
And after that we have to find job again. During the break before finding a new job, we went to the north land for sightseeing.

The main attraction was at Cape Range where the most northern point of New Zealand is there. We went to see the lighthouse. The wind was so strong that it almost blew me away!

On the way back we stop at Paihia to stay for a night.

Continue after that we start working as repacker at the same company again.

Working for about two months there. After that I met another group of malaysian and decided to travel together with them too.

We climb to Mount Maunganui to see the beautiful sunrise.

We also climb to Papamoa hills where we can see Mt Maunganui from there.

Time has come to leave this town, and leave to a new place. Thank God we found a great place, a really beautiful place. It feels like heaven here.

While our work is quite good as well.

Birds chirping in the morning with my coffee on the tabletop. Sound of the wind whistling through the trees, sunrays that heat you up to keep u warm from the cold breeze.

First day working at pruning... The weather is just perfect, sunny since morning.

hey hey, sorry i haven’t been blogging for awhile. There’s been a lot of happening and time was sufficient enough for me to blog. At last now I can blog and have at least some pictures to put on! hahaha

so what did I do after I left Auckland? Hmm where did I stop last? oh ya. After the April Fools day! That was really long…

Okay after that I left Melbourne to go to New Zealand.

April Fool’s day

This year’s April Fool’s day is so different for me because I spend it in Melbourne!!!

Today I have decided to cook for my housemates. Went out to Victoria Market late in the morning to buy the stuff for cooking…

The market was just full of people… Probably because the next day is Good Friday

They have little chicks for sale as well.. aww poor thing…

after that, I went to have lunch at a Vegetarian place. It’s so cheap!!! $6.50 per person. with meals + dessert + drinks… you can refill how many you want! But i’m just too full after just having one plate…

At night, started cooking about 6 plus, took quite awhile to prepare.. so pai seh…

While preparing the dishes.. I just felt there were too much already… :p

ta da…. Japanese curry…

ta da… well not me cook everything… I just cooked the Japanese Curry and one of the vegetables… hahaha

my housemates… amazing people… very friendly people. :) thanks so much guys! You guys are great!

1st day of Classes

Today is my first day to for my class. Orientation have just finished, it’s time to study hard…

The tutor is really good, he repeated the things that we don’t understand. Especially the Mohr circle… the normal and shear stresses… the UCS…

Hahaha I just kidding.. I went to join a class with my friend. I want to join the lecture in one of the reputable universities here. Get the feel and see how it is like, i have not been going to class for 4 years…

After that for dinner, I went to eat a “Healthy” burger… Took the Zen Hen,

I manage to continue reading chiclit while waiting for the burger…

The burger is big as usual, but i was still hungry after I finish the entire burger.. ended up I go back and eat with housemate again… I’m soooo going to gain weight!

9th day in Melbourne

Today is my ninth day in Melbourne. My plans are to spend the entire day with my ji mui that will be stopping by in Melbourne. I went to meet her at Southern Cross station before lunch.

Today I didn’t take much pictures as well as the places I went today, I went there the past few days…

8th day in Melbourne

Today is my 8th day in Melbourne! yay! today i’m going to Williamstown. Williamstown is a fishing village. It’s a bit far from the city, need to take a train there and journey is about 1 hour.

we saw the fire brigade past by. There seems to be fire brigade passing by us everyday… hmm… Training exercise?

This machine seems to have everything…

We took 3 trams to reach there as we need to change trams…

The place is very peaceful, away from the city. Serenity and peace. The wind was blowing hard, the coldness was just so refreshing..

Looking far to the sea, I know God has a greater purpose for me, greater than I can ever imagine, greater that what I can think of at the moment…

As we walk along the beach on the pathway, there were snails crawling hard

The journey is long, the journey is far. It might even hard to see the end of it. So far it seems so hard to grab it, but one must remember, every tunnel will have an exit, there will be light at the end of the tunnel, this is the promise.

As hard as the snail moves, he never gives up no matter what happens. Few died on the road, as he sees them, he never even stops…

we went to have lunch of fish and chips. it’s just 6 dollars…

I can’t finish it… just can’t…. hahaha still haven’t get used to the portions here…

We went to walk around Williamstown. Each house have unique designs…

After that we took a boat ride back to the city which only cost 10 dollars

wah so nice right. imagine waking up one day by the river… and your ship is waiting underneath you waiting for you to take her to the big big ocean to explore to different worlds…

As we reach to the city, we saw an actual Floating Restaurant…

Then after that we took a tram to Shrine of Remembrance. The shrine is just full of historical things… More of it is about world war 2.

After that we went to the Botanical Garden… the Botanical Garden is so big! we didn’t manage to finish walking it… Some places are closed… I love the sceneries there…

At night we went to eat Italian food at Lygon Street…

The pizza was quite nice… meat lovers… hahah my favourite…. but the pasta is ok ok only…

This is my beloved ji mui… she’s so so nice to me. :D

Along the way back I saw something first time…

7th day in Melbourne

Today I’ll be going to church with my ji mui. The church is called Compass Church. Woke up at 6:30am to leave because I’m going with Irwan and he needs to reach earlier to serve…

The service was held at one of the halls in this building. They need to reach earlier to set up all the equipments. Service starts at 10am. The presence of God was very thick. I met Pastor Phil and he is very friendly. There was coffee serving outside the hall right before service. After the service, I just met amazing people from different countries, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, China

oh and one of the main highlights.. I met someone that look so much like ….

can’t guess? he looks so much like Ps Kong!!!

After that we went to have lunch at a place called La Porchetta, Italian food.

Met some people from China, and there’s this guy which is so funny… in the picture on the left

He’s so pity, got bullied by the guys… hahaha He seems to always be the target… hahaha

I have been very forgetful to take pictures… manage to take the picture of the last piece before I gobbled up. The pizza is really nice! Love it so much! the pizza is called Meat Lovers! probably thats what I am thats why I love it so much! hahaha but I have to start being healthy… need to eat more vegetable…

After that being tired, we went to the Art Market… Apparently there’s a street show going on there…

There’s this guy doing these acrobatic stunts… well I joined in the fun as well… :p

I have no idea what he’s trying to do… :p He asked me to volunteer and well I guess it wouldn’t hurt to just help him. But he’s really a funny guy…

ya he’s doing the backflip while we’re just lying there… Well I was the last… :p hahaha but great amazing show.

the art market sells a lot of “artistic” stuff. Mostly self handmade. some of the hand-made cards are just really nice!

Went back after that being so tired…. my muscle still ache from the footy on the previous day… The entire day my muscle have been aching… People have to wait for me when climbing stairs… I felt like a disabled man/old man… :P so sad… Hopefully it won’t last till tomorrow… hahaha but this just shows one thing, I haven’t been exercising for so long… I must start to exercise!

After that, for dinner Skippy cooked us a nice meal… thanks so much Skippy! my flatmates are amazing!

yummy!!! tomorrow we will be going to Williamstown, a fishing village… hahaha guess I can try to compare with Pulau Ketam then… :p

6th day in Melbourne

Today going up to Mt Dandenong!!! yay!!! I’ll be meeting my ji mui at the Thornbury station. We had a relax start of the day and head to Findler’s Street Station (which we’re quite familiar at the moment already) and took a train to Thornbury station.

Went to this bridge and there’s a plate here that shows a bit of the history of Melbourne. It also shows how different people from different countries came together in Australia, their number and where they are from.

We reach Thornbury at about 11:30am. Start to see the houses here. Then met my ji mui and Rita was very kind to join us. She drove and fetch us to Mt Dandenong…

The houses along the street are by itself. they are not attached to one another and each houses have their own design. Every houses has their own sufficient space of garden. It’s very nice and lovely.

We reach to a place called Pie in the sky…

They have really nice pies with different fillings. I took the utmost famous one, Beef and Guinness!

Mine came with mashed potatoes which I ordered it…

They have nice interior designs… Very country… There’s also information on Ned Kelly, the famous criminal or some regard him as “robin hood” of that time. I have read some of his history, it was interesting!

We then went to this Lolly shop that sells lollipops and sweets….

After that we head on to the Mt Dandenong, where the place to see the beautiful view.

It something like “Small Genting” or “Lookout Point” in Malaysia but this is in Melbourne. We can see the city centre from there. But because of the haze, the visibility is less. I bet we should be able to see the sea if there were less haze. But it’s nice. The view is facing West side that time. We rested for awhile and take few deep breaths of the fresh air… Then got down and head on for tea break…

Along the way, there were some cyclist there were climbing uphill. Go go go!!! wow, they really have that spirit to cycle!

We reached Ms Marples and had some tea with desserts. It was very nice and lovely. The interior design was very nice as the walls have shelfs of various designs of teapots….

I always have liked this kind of small little tea house then we can enjoy tea and some desserts… Just relax and let our mind take place in resting…

The food looks really delicious aren’t they? I already missing the waffles already… the second picture shows the chocolate cake i think… It’s very rich.. I love rich chocolate cakes… though sometimes they make me jelak… :p

Later on we stroll along the street and have a look at things on exhibition or on sale… Saw this doll house…

Aren’t they so lovely? So nice!

Saw a very furry cat… the furr is really like carpet… It was walking around so I didn’t really get a good image of it.

After that Rita brought us to Dave’s farm to have moonlight cinema with bbq. I really didn’t know the farm is THIS BIG!…

There were friends from different churches… We had a chance to expose to Footy! yay!!! After that little did I know, I was panting so hardly even after a little exercise! guess I didn’t have exercise for a VERY long time…

As the sun sets, we get ourselves ready to watch the moonlight cinema. We watched “Iron man” which was very nice cause it’s one of my favourites!!!

5th day in Melbourne

Wake up today to go to St Kilda’s beach, the only the beach that is nearby. Today is also the Grandprix in Australia. We decided to take a tram (number 96) to St Kilda’s beach. upon arriving…

the scorching heat really burns my skin…

We saw some people taking some odd surf boards with paddles…

it’s called paddle boarding. It’s a sport where you stand on the surf board and you paddle…

after that we walked to the pier

There seem to be penguins living here. It suppose to be the habitats of the penguins… but I can’t see them anywhere… :p

some boats were there. But there was no people around there…

On the same day, there were some planes doing some show there. I believe it must be due to the F1 Grand Prix that were held that day.

There were some jelly fish which was close to the water surface… oh my, there were very big… one got stuck at the rocks…

The people just like to lie to get the sun. I can’t stand the sun.. maybe enough sun for me already in Malaysia… hahaha

After that we took a tram back to the city and I finally found the BATMAN PARK

There’s not much thing at the park. I think plenty of parks in Melbourne looks like this one. there are just so many parks in Melbourne that it seems normal already… well or probably from where I came from is abnormal… :p

We went into Melbourne Aquarium, but just to have a look. we might come over here the next week.

Not having any directions, we decided to have a coffee at “Overdraft Cafe”. I wonder what that means… Overdraft.. thought I can pay with overdraft…

Had a flat white coffee and a small chocolate cake. The cake was nice, very chocolatey, the coffee was just okay only. I like Latte better, but will try Mocha soon…

were there for probably an hour or two before walking to St Paul’s Cathedral…

After that i met with my beloved Ji mui!!! we went to the Geco at Crowns to have lovely cakes!

wow… it’s just so nice… even nicer than the ones in Malaysia…. :p

After that we went to stroll in Crowns shopping complex and I found a chocolate shop which is very nice… the chocolates are just so cute!

Later on, my ji mui brought me to Korea food at night… it’s quite nice and I love it because it’s very Korean… not the “blended with local culture” Korean, but really Korean…

wow, that was just so good. I’m so so full because earlier on had cakes and now to Korean food…

Tomorrow we’re going to Mt Dandenong!!! yay! time to experience a bit of the countryside!

4th day at Melbourne

Today we set out to go to Victoria Market. Went out a bit late at about ten-ish, and reach Victoria market at about 10:30am

Victoria market is sort of like Petaling street except that it sells everything here including vegetable and fruits.

I bought seedless grapes for myself to eat… so cheap… a bunch only 90 cents

After that we set out our journey to Melbourne University. Along the way we asked for directions and a kind Australian gave us the correct directions… so friendly!

After that we wanted to go to Carlston place but there’s a International flower exhibition which is held until tomorrow. Therefore, cannot even go near the building… the place is sealed from the gates…

then we manage to take up the city tram and head to the city. It’s almost lunch time, so we decided to try HUNGRY JACKS!

ops i forgotten to take picture before i eat… well look at the bite that i took, it’s not done on purpose that it looks small, the bigger is actually BIG! Some of you who knows how I eat burger, I eat very quickly, but after eating this burger, I feel so full that I can hardly move an inch…

Then we went to the State library

the state library was just so magnificent!

nah, this was just for exhibition… hehe

After that we went to QV which was just next to the state library.

There wasn’t much for us to see there, there are shops and food but we weren’t very hungry, after that we head over to Parliament building to meet with Irwan, and we went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

This is my first time going to a Cathedral and my, it is the most amazing I have ever seen…

Well, as you can see, I am not wearing my jacket because it is getting warmer…

I have never been to a Cathedral and never imagine how it’s like. This is the first time and I’m really amazed!

After that we head to Fitzroy Garden which is just behind the Cathedral. On the way we met with the park ranger which is kind and let us have a map of the park. He also gave us a better map of Melbourne city which have includes the public transport as well.

We reach to the first attraction in Fitzroy garden which is the Dolphin Fountain….

sadly, there wasn’t much water. Looks very dry to me.

After that we went to another fountain that is called River God Fountain

Still very dry as well. It seems that there is insufficient water in Melbourne now and they are using the recycled water for the fountains.

After that, since there is not much water in the entire park, it’s pointless to go see other fountains as well. So we went for dinner to eat MCD at the Crowns.

The portion is as big as ever. The angus burger is really nice. These are the things that Malaysia sure cannot find. I really can’t move after eating because I was so full. We waited awhile then for the fire show…

I can’t take much pictures, cause it’s either too dark or when the fire comes up, the picture is over exposed and it’s only in a span of few seconds…

3rd Day in Melbourne

Yay! today I’ll be going to Melbourne Zoo! hehehe I’m so excited! I’m gonna see Kangaroos, Koalas, gorillas, and everything else!

We walked to the city centre and took a coffee before taking a train from Findlers Street Station to Royal Park Station where Melbourne Zoo is. It wasn’t very long as the journey only took us about 20 minutes.

Along the same day, there was a group of children came to the zoo…

The ticket wasn’t very expensive, $24.40. There’s also a special price for students, cheaper by about $6.00. The first thing we went in to see of course is to see the Kangaroos!!!!

We seem to be more semangat than the kangaroos…. Looks like the kangaroos just woke up only… haiz… not much activity from the kangaroos as some where just lazying around… lazy kangaroo…

This is called the blue-billed duck.

we were lucky to see the wombat… it’s so cute!!! a bit like pig but it looks nicer than a pig.

This was left exposed to the public. Doesn’t seem harmful… lives in the rocks

There were some reporters/journalist that day that came to the zoo do some documentary i think…. behind was the… KOALAS!!!

They are just so cute!!! today their appetite seems to be very good, kept on eating even when we came…. didn’t bother to care about us i guess… hahaha

We entered to the butterfly park and boy, it was amazing! there were so many butterflies flying around!

we heard a very loud monkey sound from afar…. coming near only saw who was the culprit…

this species of Orang Utan was making so much noise… so attention seeking…

I was a bit sad cause we can’t find the gorilla at the designated place. wuhuhuhu…. so i decided to….

hahaha but later on found the gorilla was having his good time…

eating and munching away his meal at the feeding place. we were so close to him! but he didn’t even bother to see us….

I like the habitat that they build for the Orang Utan. It was a very big place. The Orang Utan can sway around and play at the whole big space. Next we’ll see the BABOONS…

One male baboon can have many females following him. It’s like polygamy… not just two or three but MANY… I wonder how he can cope with the stress… hehehe

Next, went to this Japanese garden and the garden is nice but a bit small…

after that went to had lunch and had a chicken wrap at the zoo cafe…

There’s a lot of birds everywhere at the cafe. The birds doesn’t seem to be afraid of human…

After that went to see creatures from the sea…

That marks the end of our journey in Melbourne Zoo. Fascinating though, but some animals that was lazy has disappointed me. Oh well, we can’t force to do what they don’t want to do. We can only encourage them.

After that we went back to Melbourne city and manage to catch a City Tram. We went around the city and saw more buildings on the way.

The tram stops at Parliament building and let us take photos for a few minutes before proceeding to the next stop…

After that, being hard, we want to learn to take the tram, so we pointed our first destination to Crown Hotel (Since we never been to the hotel, complex and casino), we took train 55, luckily we didn’t overshot.

The Crown is hotel + shopping complex + casino, the only casino that is given license in Melbourne (thats what I’ve been told), but the sad case is, they asked for my age when I was about to enter… =.= sad…

Parking is “cheap” right?

As we start to feed the birds, more and more birds came from everywhere and it became more and more….

After that, we decided to go back since there’s nothing much left to visit in the city…. along the way , saw this dog… awww poor dog tied to the steel rail.

one day, one day i shall ride this…. hehehe

tomorrow I’ll be going to Queen Victoria’s Market! hahaha dun even know what to buy yet!

2nd day in Melbourne…

yay it’s already the second day in Melbourne. We woke up late today... A bit embarrassing cause we were planning to wake up much earlier to go on a city tour.

We went down and head for Queen Victoria gardens and the king’s domain.

i mistaken this for the Shrine of Remembrance. I thought this was just it… But I was wrong after I went to the Information centre. Thus… no pictures for Shrine of Remembrance…

we got ourselves some prepaid for convenience to call and to be called. This Gotalk is even cheaper to call back Malaysia than to call local… they have this flagfall charges which they charge extra 20 cents for the first minute for local calls and 25 cents for overseas calls…

McCafe at MCD here.. they got so many varieties of cakes!

We went for the recommended route for shopping arcade since we were just nearby…

After that went down on a recommended route by the Yarra river… the wind is just so refreshing…

After that I went to my best friend’s life group and it was a lot of fun sharing. I met a lot of new friends especially ones I talk longer is Ronaldo and Ching. Suddenly I feel so old when I was asked what am I studying… hahaha but anyhow, thats the truth and the fact that I must accept :p

1st day at Melbourne

Finally it’s time for me to take off in Air Asia D7 2724. So touched with so many friends came to send me. The rain at night makes the whole atmosphere even more gloomier.

I finally get on the plane, without turning back… it’s time to go, it’s time to move on into a new phase of my life.

I was lucky to have two seats to myself. One of the seat on my right was vacant, I was enjoying my sweet time there, but still, everytime i try to sleep, there was annoucement from the pilot, making my sleep process going back to stage one again….

i took my food a bit later at about 6am(malaysia time) cause it’s 9am in Melbourne. My RM 10 Nasi Lemak meal

Actually it’s quite nice, Nasi lemak with chicken curry and a bottle of mineral water. the small container you see (which looks like a communion plastic cup and cover we use) contains the anchovies and nuts. I finish it till the last bite!

The plane landed at the airport at 12:05pm, earlier than the expected ETA, which is good.

It took me awhile in the airport because I brought some food together. The customs were very strict and they check every food that i brought, which I think was good. Lucky me, the que wasn’t long that time. I manage to finish everything taking not very long time…

I met with one my ex church member whom is so generous to let us stay at his place. After we put our luggage at his place, we went to the city to have lunch at a Vietnamese Restaurant

I chose the “Chicken Special” where by they mix the parts of the chicken together and it was really nice!

looks like burger king? actually it’s exactly the same as burger king, just different name =.=

China town… nothing much here actually. :p

Then I met up with my beloved ji mui!! hugs…. so happy! we went to a greek restaurant and it was so nice! it is meat dip is different sauce and wrapped in a pita. it’s a lot of DIY which makes it even more tasty!

later on i walk on a bridge which apparently one of the movies acted by Nicholas Cage, was filmed here…

ok thats all for today! time to sleep and tomorrow will be another great day! I will be mostly on foot tomorrow to tour around Melbourne City! yay!

yup~ March 22nd is the date! The date that my course of life will be changed, the day that I will start to see so many things differently! The day that I will change in a lot of things!

Some might know, some still don’t know. I didn’t tell many people, but here goes …

I will be flying to New Zealand for Working Holiday Scheme. March 22nd I will be flying to Melbourne and holiday for 2 weeks first with my best friend before flying to New Zealand for a great adventure that is awaiting me.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for months, and it’s finally here. Exactly another 1 month to go.

For the benefit of those who do not understand, Working Holiday Visa (WHV) is a visa issued to Malaysians whom wants to work and holiday at the same time in New Zealand

To be eligible for this visa, the following requirements applies :

have a Malaysian passport that‘s valid for at least three months after your planned departure from New Zealand
be at least 18 and not more than 30 years old
not bring children with you
hold a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket*
have a minimum of NZ$2,250 available funds to meet your living costs while you’re here
meet our health and character requirements
be coming to New Zealand to holiday, with work or study being secondary intentions for your visit
not have been approved a visa or permit under a Working Holiday Scheme before.

You do not need to have a job before applying this visa. Normally a lot of people get a job after they reach to New Zealand.

What you need to prepare is

Money (enough funds to cover also for the return ticket)
Winter clothing
Enough links for transport, accomodation there and links to find job
camera? hehe

I bought my ticket via transit in Melbourne. altogether to reach to New Zealand is about rm 1400. But i believe you can get cheaper through fairs and also MAS is having promotion now!

Going to start preparing my luggage, I only have 20kg limit! I wonder how am I going to bring everything there!

How to stay awake working after lunch…

When I first start working, this is the thing that i have to battle through after lunch…. STAYING AWAKE!!!!

I tried very hard using my willpower, looking into the computer screen, though under stress, deadlines, presentations… but the power of Sleepiness overcame me… thus I came up with lots of ways to encounter and overcome it.. some works some didn’t… here are the few…

1. Drink black coffee

This works for me…. at least for awhile… before the caffein effect goes off and I’m sleepy again… but normally by the time that happens, my brain has already pick up the enthusiasm level that the natural willpower is up again. But i normally take coffee with milo together, cause when I fast, coffee alone can cause gastric… But warning.. don’t don’t ever take milo alone… it will make you even more sleepy!!!!

2. Eat dried sour plum

I tried this during working as a teacher. Had the chance to buy sour plum then at some shopping centre in Klang. Bought a big pack! It works for the start, at least it makes your mouth go harewire… with that suddenly feel the urge. but not long after that, you will feel sleepy again… warning again… this is not for the weak… I bought an extra extra sour type, and it’s REALLY REALLY SOUR!!! if you can’t take the sourish, then better mix the sour plum with water and drink. it works too!

3. Chatting with colleague while working

Keep a conversation alive with your colleague while working. It helps to keep your brain active and alive while you’re doing your work. Let the conversation be about a topic that helps both of you and most of all, it must be interesting. Don’t gossip or talk bad (though it’s quite interesting sometimes :p) about others… But this is strictly not for those whom can’t handle 2 things at one time! Make sure your chat does not affect the efficiency of your work!

4. Email chatting

If you do not have a colleague nearby or able to chat with you, email chat with someone else which you know, best if they are also using the same network so that emails sent are fast to be received. Keep a conversation alive as well, but make sure also that you still do your work and that it increases your efficiency. It kept me awake while reading the reports to be translated into training materials and my, it did save my life…

5. Wash your face every 5 minutes…

Ya, I’m serious! every 5 minutes!!! or maybe every 3 minutes if 5 is too long… washing face can only keep me awhile before the cool breeze of air cond blow on my face rendering me to a cooling environment suitable only to sleep… I use to pour water on my face when I was driving back home during university. That time I wasn’t afraid of my car getting wet because it was an old car… it works and saved my life many times from car accident….

6. Walk around noisy factory

If you have a factory as noisy as mine, then take a walk while holding documents to read around your factory. the loud noises will keep you awake and you’ll even have a chance to get an idea how to solve a problem while looking at the problems in the production line. I’ve learnt this, creative ideas don’t always come from brainstorming but when you least expect it to come…

I get my ideas mostly when I’m in the toilet!

7. Think about someone or something you like

Try thinking about someone you like or something you’re looking forward to, then continue to do your work. It refreshes your mind a bit, get your mind off the work for awhile, so that you can see things at work from a far. You get to think “out of the box”, and sometimes new ideas came from where you don’t know!

8. Read jokes

There are plenty of jokes on the internet that you can find now, including blond jokes, geek jokes, writer’s jokes, etc… But don’t laugh too loud!

I’m out of ideas… hahaha I’ll put up more when I have…. :)

The government’s dump trucks have been dropping off bodies here since Friday. No one counts, takes pictures or searches for names. In some places, legs and arms of strangers are knotted together in a frozen dance, but here the ground has been leveled by a backhoe that has erased all but the tiniest scraps of life.

“They have buried so many people here,” said Voissine Careas, 60, a farmer chopping brush nearby with a machete. “And now, they are digging holes for more.”

Along with everything else stolen by last week’s earthquake, Haitians must now add another loss: the ability to identify and bury the dead. Funeral rites are among the most sacred of all ceremonies to Haitians, who have been known to spend more money on their burial crypts than on their own homes.

It is the product in part of familiarity with death — the average life span of a Haitian is 44 — but also the widespread voodoo belief that the dead continue living and that families must stay connected forever to their ancestors.

“Convening with the dead is what allows Haitians to link themselves, directly by bloodline, to a pre-slave past,” said Ira Lowenthal, an anthropologist who has lived in Haiti for 38 years. He added that with so many bodies denied rest in family burial plots, where many rituals take place, countless spiritual connections would be severed.

“It is a violation of everything these people hold dear,” Mr. Lowenthal said. “On the other hand, people know they have no choice.”

2nd attempt….

the first attempt was a failure, :p except for the orange cake which i consider a success… hehe… i’m not satisfied… Want to try again as soon as possible to bake again!

i went on straight to preparation, beating the mixture, mixing the flour and beating it… ops! forgotten to take picture… :p until when i mix it with the chopped walnuts… here is it…

Haha… so next start to make it in to small pieces on a tray with baking paper using two small little spoons…

and next, to put it in the oven and bake for 15 minutes…

ok the minutes I’ve been waiting for is coming…

I kept on opening the oven to see if it burnt… nervousnyer…

and when i smell the chocolatey cookies smell… took it out… tada!

This is a success…. the outer part is not burnt and inside is crispy crunchy! yes! Let it on the wire tray to let it cool down and dry from all the oil before putting it into container….

and the ingredients i used?

Ingredients :

Brown sugar, salted butter, chocolate paste, egg yolk, flour, cocoa powder, walnuts and chocolate chips

It’s been two years I haven’t been baking cookies… :p So I wanted to try back baking cookies again after 24 months…. hahaha

Went to get the materials and started to do preparation and baking and baking and…

failed… I left in the oven for too long and it went overbaked!

never mind thats the first tray… I put in the second tray… tada…

looks nice right? but when i put it in my mouth, and found out that the cookies are crispy enough….. failed……

But after that i successfully baked the following! … tada….

hahaha it’s actually orange cake which i promise some friends for a very very long time… :p sorry ya… if you’re reading this… nah here’s the proof that i really got bake la… it’s a bit black… hahaha but this is my first attempt of trying to bake an orange cake… :p

Last day teaching in Khe Beng

It really has been teaching at this school! Yesterday I even have the privilege to bring the students for Daerah level story telling competition!

The most left one is one my story telling contestant! The other two are her best friends. Also storytelling contestants but at school level. They also have great talents.

As we left in car, I start to realize that they really enjoy talking so much. Well standard 6, I guess all of us are also like that at that age right? hahaha

We reached to Hin Hua and went to the main hall where the competition was held. I was very nervous the whole time cause this is my first time bringing them to the competition.

Although she didn’t win the top positions, but I think she really did very well in the competition. Well the judges are the ones that made the decisions right? I think she really did put a lot of effort and I really appreciate it. After that I treated them McDonalds and they were really happy about it!

Today teaching at school were just as normal as any other days. I guess I’ll be missing a lot teaching the kids. 2 months, just 2 months, I still remember most of their names of the pupils the classes I taught. Some of them so adorable! some of them so naughty! But it’s really satisfying when I get to involved in their lifes, to teach them the right values to remember.

The Bilik Guru is the only pictures I manage to take today. Hahaha I can’t be taking the photos of the pupils. Later they’ll realize it’s my last day. hahaha

I’m going to miss them so much! :P

So probably a lot of people will be asking me, will I be joining the profession of teaching?

Final few weeks in the school…

I have been teaching in this school for the past one month. The experience is really amazing! Hahaha all the ups and downs, facing the pupils, some very naughty, some very “kuai”, I really start to like them a lot already. Apart from the holidays and working just “half day”, it’s really very satisfying.

I gave them some work over for Art class during the merdeka week celebration and these are some of the pictures I manage to take to keep for memories ….

One of the students, very naughty in the class, always got punished by me… but yet very hillarious… :p

My first day teaching at SRJK© Khe Beng. I started of with being replacement teacher for other classes. When I enter the class, started la… “Ti yi!, Lao shi zao an!”, Then they sit, after awhile, start to get noisy already, some of them non-stop talking behind, I need to shout at them! :~

After recess period, I start to take over English class for standard 4 to 6 because the teacher start to take maternity leave. My goodness, the table was full of books not yet mark. I need to do planning as well for teaching of what in classes for all the 6 classes i’m teaching (2 class for each standard).

After recess period, I’m already in one of the class, supposedly to teach English. It was 6J, one of the notorious classes. My o my, they’re just so noisy. I can’t stop shouting for one second. Just then i realized, it’s so much easier teaching in tuition! at least the students come prepared to learn. Over here, most of the students don’t want to study! they just want to sleep and do other stuff, anything but study!

2nd day, and it’s still not yet change for me. I still have the “unfamiliar” feeling with all the things on the table. Planning Record book, the books that need to mark, student’s exercise books, and rotan! but the teacher’s table are really full of even a lot of other stuff which I can’t manage to clear it off. The students have so much of exercise to do, that means more exercise for the teachers to mark! Before I go back, I was even told i need to mark the exam papers because it’s trial papers exam for standard 6 students! I took the paper back to mark… :(

3 Days I teach already, need to get a hand of it. Still so many to learn and so many to get hang of it, besides just teaching and also the records. Though there’s so many naughty students, some of the students are just really cute! Especially the standard 4 students, seems they’re very scared of me, cause maybe I’m a male teacher.

Bad customer service...

Today I just have an experience of bad customer service at "shopToshiba@the Mobile Computer" which their real name is "Emerge Marketing". Location is at Digital Centre at Sunway Pyramid. I bought my Toshiba laptop from their shop 11 months ago, and just 1 month ago got flickering monitor problem and it should be the inverter problem. I sent my laptop to their shop on 22nd Jun and they say will take 2 weeks, first for them to send over and second week for the company to send back. I have called up TeleDynamics(which is their Authorized Service centre for Toshiba) and they say, it will take just 3 days. It's just the inverter problem so won't take long. 3 Days should be inclusive of diagnosis and test. So today I called their shop earlier, and the person who picked up the phone never ask for any serial number just say the laptop not yet arrive. I think it's really "amazing" he knows which laptop i'm talking about without asking for serial numbers or more information on the laptop. he say he will ask his supervisor to call me back in half an hour. then I never receive any phone call from them.. I went to their shop, and after much talking with the sales person, he say the laptop just only sent last week friday(3 July 09). Why would they keep customer's laptop for so long and not do anything about it?

And it seems the supervisor there is the person that didn't want to care for my case. He didn't even provide for me solution of what they can do for me, instead give me reasons and say they never do customer complain in 2 weeks time. Didn't even check the status of my laptop. I don't even know the status of my laptop. They just say "Send already". But I don't want to just know "Send Already", I want to know where is it, whether it's repaired or not and when can I get it back? I'm already not happy that it takes so long for them to send over to their headquarters, and now I don't even know when can I get back?

And then he just go back to his computer do his thing. And he just tell his subordinate(the one that handled me last time) to call me and talk to me (cause the subordinate is on leave). Why can't he just talk to me? This is how they treat customers for after sales customer service is it? Their team leader name is Daud. I won't forget his name. Cause I remember when I was talking to him, he didn't look at me, and keep on looking at his monitor as though i'm not there. His attitude is really bad.

I wanted to take the picture of their shop, but one of their staff stop me, say i cannot take. so i delete it. Is there a law say you cannot take their photo?

they got apartments on top of the digital mall. i really like these kind of place to stay. i think there’s a swimming pool with the apartments. at beneath the digital mall, there’s also a convenient carrefour. so nice and convenient.

kim chi and jerry out on the move!

I took some videos of kim chi and jerry out on the move! yay! look at them running around in hamster ball! sorry that the quality might not be very good, i took it using my faithful se k800i only.. hahaha

I've read many reviews about hamster balls, and some says that hamster balls give them stress. but believe me.. thru my experience, they really really love it very much! hamsters love freedom, so hamster ball is one way to let them out and have the whole room/house to themselves, but still keep them away from running away...

before this, they were so lazy in their cage, sleeping here and there, but after i put them in the hamster ball, they go crazy all running around like my room is some big field.. hahaha

yay! I bought hamster ball for my babies!!! they're just like the one in Bolt. hahaha and my hamster like them so much!

once they got in the ball, they just keep running everywhere! and the ball keeps on rolling everywhere! wow! they didn't stop when i put them back in the cage... even inside the cage, they also keep on running! Boy! aren't they active!

For a lot of people whom are sceptical about hamster balls out there, just buy it for your hamsters. Don't worry, they'll surely like it!

This morning at 2:30am, I hear my hamsters shouting... and it was a few times... i switch on the lights, was shock to realize, that Jerry was sitting at the upper layer alone, looking shocked. i try to comfort her... but nothing seems to work... kim-chi seems to be actively running around...

after watching for sometime, finally jerry decided to move around, and it climbed down.. when it met face to face with kimchi that is moving around, to my shock, kimchi slap jerry to the side! and kimchi seem to be bullying jerry every now and then! this was bad news for me... thank God that one of my colleague gave me a cage he won't use anymore. i continue watching them, and indeed, kimchi was really bullying jerry!!! poor jerry....

looking at such scenario, i've decided to separate them both to different cages... because kimchi was so fierce and can't share, i move him out... :'(... i thought both females won't fight.. the guy in the pet shop told me so!!! but it seems that they do fight... hamsters do fight... haiz...

yay! yup! i got myself new pets... got myself hamsters!!! yay.. just bought them yesterday from midvalley... they are really suuupeeer cuuuute! I'm still learning how to take care of them.... here's some pics of them...

The first day, they are just so hyper active! they kept on running on the wheel, taking turns and running and running... wow! but they continue running and running after midnight last night... =.=.. they jz wouldn't goto sleep.... :p

hehehe just now right, i waited and waited until they fall asleep.. then manage to take some photos.. ssshhh

but didn't take long for them to realize i was taking their pics... hahaha... smart hamsters.... caught red-handed!

i got two.. one of them is small but run very fast and more active then the other one....

hence.. i named him.... jErRy (the one on the lower right, eating stuff)

he's a bit fairer then the other... but he's not shy at all. when i hold him the first time, he just keep on running from my hands!

the other one is a bit bigger, and dark in color. when he got back at my room the first time i tried to touch him , she was shocked. But afterwhile, she got active again and keep on running around the cage...

today after work, when i saw her, she hid her face in the bedding... =.=... hahaha she's really the shy one... but occasionally when she's active, i saw her bullying jerry o... walao .... so i named her kim-chi... hahaha for no particular reason.. :p

both of them are like good sisters together.. both of them sleep together side by side just now o.. hahaha... they're just so cute!

strangely they like to sleep under the wheel... think they're just big cold.. maybe a house would be a good idea for both of them.. separate houses for both.. hehehe so they won't fight over it.. :P

Karen Kong, or simply known as Karen K to the fans, born in Labuan, student of S.M St Anne, Labuan, S.M.K Labuan, Tunku Abdul Rahman College and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. Now a famous Malaysian artist with her most favourite, Cinta Hello Kitty and Ku Tak Upaya... my favourites as well ^^

Kong's debut single was launched in January 2007. Her debut EP also includes her singles Cinta Hello Kitty and Ku Tak Upaya, both penned by fellow Malaysian songwriter Asmin Mudin (writer of Malaysian Idol Jaclyn Victor's Gemilang). Both were featured on several radio station top charts including ERA, Xfresh and others.

On 17 July 2007, she made a first in the Malaysian music scene by being the first artiste to hold a web concert. In September, she announced her plan to produce a Mandarin album (and her Chinese stage name, as stated above). The album, titled Showtime, which has since been finished and scheduled for release on 27 October^[2], however, hit a snag when it was found that retail stores refuse to distribute or sell the album. This lead her company to only sell her album in a 50-leg promotional tour around the country.^[3]

Watch TV on laptop, finally!!!

yay!!! I'm so happy!!! finally, I got to watch TV on my laptop!!! I was so blessed last week at PC fair when my colleague suddenly decide to give me his tv tuner! It started when he asked me what I want to look at in PC fair, I told him, i might look at tv tuner. then he told me, "aiya... I give you la.. I got one i never use before" .... wow!!!

It is Kworld brand TV-PVR USB2.0 TV2800, and this was given to him 1 year ago when he subscribe to some magazine and he never use it till he gave me.

An external USB 2.0 tv tuner. I wanted a PCMCIA type last time so that it can be plug into my laptop all the time and i can bring anywhere i want, but well, this is given by others, it's okay.

To use with this tuner, I need to buy an aerial. Bought an average tv aerial with internal amplified booster at RM 43

So the journey begins! I got the cd follow the instructions and everything. then tried to run the program but..... it didn't work because the driver and the software was outdated.... haiz... I need to update the software again... =.= took me hours to find the software update.... and finally found it at 1am in the morning... haiz...

After installing the updates... hehehe voila!

oops sorry.. can't really see the video with printscreen. I'll try to capture with the software...

wow! first glimpse of it! amazing!!! tuning to other channels...

I manage to get TV3, ntv7, 8tv and tv9(is there tv9? i just only got to know hehehe )... wow 4 channels for me to watch! isn't it wonderful!

the reception is still bit blur because I haven't really find a good position for my aerial. It's just situated next to my computer now.. maybe have some interference or what... anyway I will find a good spot to get better reception...
